Request of the map object description

You can request a description (brief help information) of object of a digital vector map as follows:

- move the cursor over the object and press the left Mouse button or the ENTER key of the keyboard.

Digital map has a multilayered structure. At the point indicated by the cross, several objects can be simultaneously spatially located.

Therefore, after the first click, in the dialog box the information about the topmost object will appear. There is a possibility of vertical layer-by-layer movement by pressing the buttons Next

and Back

The dialog provides the ability of recoding the selected object - by clicking the mouse in the image window at the top of the dialog, you can select a new view of object.

The upper part of the dialog shows the object characteristics that cannot be edited:

Switching a unique number to a serial number and back is done by clicking the mouse on the word «Number». The field name for the serial number is set to Number*.

To view the classification code in symbolic form, you need to click the mouse on the word «Code». The field name for the symbolic classification code is set to *Code.

For polygon and closed linear objects, the perimeter of the object is indicated in the Perimeter field; for other localizations, the Length of the object is indicated. For a multi-contour closed object, the perimeter is defined as the sum of the perimeters of all external contours. For an open object, the sum of the perimeters of all contours is calculated.

The area of an object with subobjects is defined as the area of the object minus the areas of the subobjects.

For a multi-contour object, the areas of all external contours are summed up and the areas of internal contours (subobjects) are subtracted.

To obtain precise values of length and area, select the Precise square and length item in the Options menu. If this item is not set, then calculations are performed using coordinates on the map. The letter K will be added to the names of the Perimeter and Square fields.

The dialog allows you to view and edit the basic characteristics of selected objects located in the lower part of the dialog in the form of bookmarks.

In the object selection dialog, it is possible to sort semantics by the following indicators:

The sorting attribute is saved in the Sort section of the application's ini file and is restored during the next session.

When selecting objects similar to the selected one, the matching by layer, character of localization, object code and matching of the value of the current semantics or selected semantics on the tab are checked. If on the «Semantics» tab in the current line the semantics is «Link to file», then the context menu will additionally have the items «Open document in a separate window» and «Add to current document». When you select the appropriate item, a command will be executed to open or add the corresponding set of data (vector map, remote sensing data, etc.). In the «Metrics» tab, the «Display order» item has been added into the context menu, intended for selecting the «Above everyone», «Bottom all», «Normal» properties, which affects the location of the object relative to other objects. When setting the «Normal» property, the display order of an object is determined in the classifier by its layer, view of conventional symbol and localization. In the «Metrics» tab, the «Save metric coordinates to EPSG:3857» item has been added to the context menu, designed to save the object’s metrics in GeoJSON format in the Mercator projection on a WGS-84 ball. The resulting file can be used to add objects on the «Public cadastral map».
