Updating of semantics from file Microsoft Office Excel (*.XLS)

Update semantics mode serves for change of semantic characteristics of map objects from file Microsoft Office Excel (*.XLS, XLSX). This mode allows to add new semantic characteristics or to change values of already existing semantics.  

The dialog is called from the menu File - Update from file.

 

For an execution of the given mode it is necessary:  

1. To set a name of the open map.  

2. To specify type of link of map's object and data from a file:

- by semantics;

- by number of object.  

3. To specify parameters of link:

- for type of link by semantics it is necessary to set up conformity between the name of the semantic characteristic and a standard name of a column of file Microsoft Office Excel (A, B, C …), containing value of the given characteristic. The values of this column must be unique and match the values of the semantics of the objects at the time of the connection.

- for type of link by number of object it is necessary to set a standard name of a column of file Microsoft Office Excel (A, B, C …),containing the value of object number.

The search for an object for updating is carried out according to the nomenclature of the first sheet of the map.

4. To specify number of first and last row of the table, containing data.

5. To form the list of semantic characteristics for updating:  

- click the Add button and select semantics. A record containing the Semantics Name and Column Name will be added into the list of semantic characteristics. The Column Name is selected from the drop-down list, which becomes available after clicking the left mouse button in this field.

- automatic setting of the list. For automatic setting of the correspondence of fields in the list of semantic characteristics it is necessary to set the flag for this mode and click the Load button. After that, a list will be formed containing records from the fields Semantics Name, Column Name and Semantics Key. For the given mode a presence of a string with the values of the semantics' keys in the Excel file is required. Values of keys in a file should coincide with values of semantics keys of the map classifier.

 

The Delete and Clear buttons allow you to delete the current record and clear the entire list of semantics, respectively.

The Save settings and Restore settings buttons are intended for saving/restoring user settings from an ini file.

When the button For selected objects is enabled in updating semantics the selected objects of a map are considered only.  

Append always mode allows to add some semantics with an identical code.  

In Append if absent mode one value of semantics is added.  

When the button Update at presence is enabled the values of already existing semantics will be changed (the button is active in a mode: Append if absent).  

If the Generate report flag is set, a file (*.txt) will be created containing information about the results of updating the semantics of objects.

If the flag Overwrite repeating is set, then before the update procedure all semantic values with the Allowed to be repeated attribute will be deleted.

With a view of increase in speed at stream updating of semantics of objects it is recommended to not write down the information into transactions log.  

The type of link of map objects and record of the data table should be established as one to one.  

If all parameters are filled correctly Execute button becomes active.
