Mandatory semantics

Mandatory semantics are assigned from the list of the object's possible semantics. Examples of mandatory semantics include "Absolute Height" for land relief objects (Height Marks, Contours) and "Depth" for bottom relief objects (Depth Marks, Isobaths).

In the object selection dialog, mandatory semantics are displayed in burgundy.
