Converter into vector format PostScript

Top

EPS (EncapsulatedPostScript) format is the graphic programming language intended for printing  texts and images exactly in such view as they are looked on the screen.

Data in such files are submitted in a text kind and can be looked through by usual text editors. But for printing graphic images the special output device directly interpreting PostScript format is necessary. The given format is supported by many programs as an output format and in most cases can be imported also.

Converter into PostScript format program is intended for converting vector maps into PostScript format.

Converter into PostScript format program is made as an applied task.

 Starting of the converter is carried out from Tools/ Run Application menu.

 Input data for the converter are files of an internal format of a map.

 The output data is the file in EPS format having the same name as an input file, and placed into the same catalog with *.eps extension.

 At the request of user the output name can be changed.

 Allowable extensions can be only *.eps or *.ps.

 During work the file-protocol of work having the same name as an input file with *.log extension and placed into the same catalog is formed.

Work sequence:

1. To set the given task into the list of applied tasks.

2. To choose a source map. The output information for a file in PostScript format will be formed in initial scale and the current view contents.

3. To call the given task from the list of applied tasks.

4. On the screen the dialog window will be displayed in which will be specified:

 - name of an input map;

 - name of an output file;

 - units of output (measure) point/inches or point/metres;

 - resolution of output device by horizontal;

 - resolution of output device by vertical.

By default standard settings for the majority of output devices - 300 point / inch are taken.

Inasmuch as printers with various resolution by horizontal and by a vertical have appeared, these sizes can be not equivalent.

5. To set color model of palette RGB or CMYK. By default RGB will be set.

6. To call the program to execution with help of Run button.

7. For a breakdown exit or interruption in a work time of the converting program it is possible to use Cancel button.

During work of the program the progress bar with % of execution is displayed on the screen.

Information about found errors will be written down into the report of work.

PostScript format is independent of output device type.

If at formation of texts in an output file the font has been set which is not supported by the program of printing or by program of viewing, then the current font will be replaced with the closest without the message about error.
