Recommended operating procedure

At starting the program the project opens with which the user worked in the previous session. To change the project, select «New project» from the menu bar («Projects»).  

For customizing the project it is recommended at first to select the cartographical information. The user can create hierarchically arranged tree of maps, rasters and matrixes, to unite data into sections. For maps, rasters and matrixes the user assigns conventional names (aliases) for work.  

All users of the system should be included in the list of users with the choice of the type of authentication.  For an authentication of the user by login and password the administrator should appoint a login and the password to the user. The password is stored in a file of parameters in the ciphered kind by algorithm MD5. For an authentication of the user by means of the security system of the operating system (or Active Directory) the administrator should identify the user according to his account in the Domain Security Policy or operating system of a local computer. As a user of the GIS Server the administrator can designate a group of users of the security system of the operating system. In this case, the access rules for all users of security systems are described for a single user and administrator of the operating system can add or delete users in the group, without rebuilding the project file.

In order to limit access to data the administrator must maintain a list of user groups. For each group the rights for editing, viewing and copying of data are assigned. User rights are determined by group to which he belongs.

If a user registered on the account is included in several groups of the project file, then for him aggregate data from these groups are available. Access to data shared for several groups in this case is taken over the minimum.

For the organization of access of unregistered users the administrator should create in GUESTS group the user with GUEST login and GUEST password and to specify data available for these users. At presence of such record for unauthorized access to a server the user in the beginning of work can enter a blank login name and a blank password and work with data of GUESTS group.

Upon the completion of work the user can save the made settings in the open file or to create new with the specified name.

For saving the made changes of the project use the «Save» button.  

The name of last open file of the project is saved in INI-file GISADMIN.INI

Application the GIS Server uses for work a file of the project with a name GISSERVER.XML, located in a folder (virtual directory) of application the GIS Server. If the name of a file of the project differs from GISSERVER.XML, when you work with GIS Server, rename it and put it in the necessary directory.
