Batch processing of format MIF/MID

Print Top page

The program is intended for formation of digital map in format of the GIS Panorama 11 from the data of format MIF/MID.

Exchange MIF/MID format is presented by text ASCII-files which describe coordinates, attributes and appearance (graphic representation) of map objects. Information about the coordinates and the graphical view are stored in a file with the MIF extension and the attributes of objects in a file with MID extension.

One pair of files MIF/MID represents one layer of a map and describes various graphic objects: lines, points, regions, texts etc.

Map in the format MIF/MID may consist of several layers, i.e. several pairs of files of the exchange format MIF/MID.

Input data can be both in geodetic coordinates, and in rectangular coordinates.

To run the program of importing, it is necessary consistently to do the following:

- select a directory with source files in MIF/MID format;

- set the name of the configuration file of format INI;

- set a file name of the classifier in format RSC;

- if there is need of objects  code conversion, specify the file name of customization of format IRC;

- set the file name of the output map.

The configuration file provides conformity of the field name in MID file to a classification code, a key or an object name in the classifier.

For formation of the configuration file it is necessary to use possibilities of the task of Import of data of format MIF/MID as a part of the GIS Panorama 11.

For assignment to the map objects of the necessary characteristics that affect the view of displaying, a process of conversion is executed.

The table of code conversion IRC contains lists of conformity of objects keys and codes of semantic characteristics of the classifier of input map to keys of objects and codes of semantic characteristics of the classifier of a derivative map.

Transferring of objects of input map into the output map is carried out by automatic change of type (localisation) of objects in accordance with breadboards of conditions (conversion tables).

As a result of program execution in a new window the user map opens. At the completion of the conversion's process the program forms a file-report with LOG extension.
