Scalability of object |
Scalability (Scalable) is an ability of objects at increase of map image to change the sizes of a conventional symbol (thickness of a line, height of a font, etc.). If the attribute of scalability is not set for object, then at increase of map's image the sizes of a conventional symbol remain constant. At compression of map the sizes of a symbol decrease irrespective of an attribute of scalability. There are exceptions from this rule. If in the description of a conventional symbol No press attribute is set the symbol does not decrease at decrease of a map. If a vector symbol or the title has Stretch attribute, the sizes of a symbol (height of the title) are proportional to distance between two points of the object metrics. Accordingly, at scaling a map the size of a symbol varies directly proportional. At increase of a map the size of scalable symbols (line thickness, height of a font, overall dimensions of vector symbols) vary with backlog from map scale if the cartographical way of image scaling is set. At drawing way of image scaling the scale of a symbol is equal to the map scale. It is recommended to apply Scalable attribute for the image of real objects of district which size cannot be shown in scale of a map (width of road, the size of building, etc.). For auxiliary objects (lines of kilometer grid, contours, pointers of stream, etc.) use of scalability is not expedient. Vector symbols and titles, as a rule, look better at the established attribute of scalability. To improve the readership of a map, except of scaling, borders of visibility of objects are applied. Scalability of object is set on Display or Printer bookmarks. Both a printer and screen view of object are scaled or are not scaled simultaneously. For more subtle adjustment of scalability of object on a bookmark «Properties» there is group of properties «Limits of changes mark size». Here the «Scalable» and «No press» attributes are duplicated. Also there are two lists of the sizes. «Decrease of» shows in how many times can be decreased the sizes of object. «Increase of» shows in how much times can be increased the sizes of object. (from 1.5 up to 25 times). For example the sizes of vector object are limited by a rectangular of 3*4 mm. Also properties «Decrease of» 2 times and «Increase of» 3 times are set. In base scale such object has the size 3*4, at increase in scale, the object by usual rules will be decreased up to 1.5*2 and will not decrease more. At decreasing of scale the object by usual order will be increased up to 9*12, and further its sizes will not grow.
