The task «Preservation of metadata in XML» is intended for formation of XML-documents under scheme MD_Metadata. The task is run by pressing the Metadata in XML button, which is located on the «Metadata» bookmark of the dialog for creating and editing a map passport

When you call the task from the mode of viewing the passport for an open map the existing file of metadata is read. In dialog the data from the read file of metadata are displayed. If the file of the metadata is not found, the data into dialog are written from the passport.

XML-document contains basic information about the metadata and allows to describe by whom and when the metadata were created, what standard was the basis for the formation of metadata, etc.

XML-document is formed for each sheet of a map. The filename .xml is set automatically by name of a map sheet. Files of the metadata are saved into the folder with map sheets.

When generating an XML document, information is read from the map passport and from the dialog fields filled in by the user. According to the map passport, the coordinates of the sheet, the nomenclature, the classifier name, the scale, the EPSG code, and the declassified are filled.

The user must fill in the fields «General information about source data and their processing technologies», «Comment», «Contract». The «Comment» field contains a short description of the dataset. Into the «Contract» field, the information about the agreement (contract) is recorded, by which the dataset was created, containing restrictions on the distribution and use of data.
