It is necessary to the user to specify on a map linear object. The choice of object must be done in area of that piece of the metrics (the first piece or the last piece) which is necessary for extending. After a choice of object move the mouse so long, as not reach necessary position of a new point. At moving position of created point is traced by means of a trace - "eraser". All movings are recalculated into the coordinates which are being a range with the extending piece of the metrics of object, as is displayed by eraser.
