Software of generalization can be used for reforming maps of three initial scales: 1: 25,000, 1: 50,000, 1: 100,000 (into maps of scales 1: 50,000, 1: 100,000, 1: 200,000). In accordance with the scale of the source map, it is necessary to set the map reform type:

- for scale 1: 25 000 to set «1: 25 000 - 1: 50 000»;

- for scale 1: 50 000 to set «1: 50 000 - 1: 100 000»;

- for scale 1: 100 000 to set «1: 100 000 - 1: 200 000».

Each scale of the destination map usually has its own classifier: 1: 50 000 - Topo50t.rsc, 1: 100 000 - Topo100t.rsc, 1: 200 000 - Topo200t.rsc (in the work with generalization software it is allowed to use any set of classifiers supported by the GIS Panorama program).When you set the map reform type, the name of the recommended classifier of the destination map is automatically set. The selection of the destination map classifier can be performed in the directory of GIS Panorama program. At performing a choice of the classifier the file of the chosen classifier automatically is copied into the directory of the source map.

Setting parameters of each process of generalization is carried out in separate dialogs. Parameters of the generalization processes are stored in separate files. You can use any directory (local or network) for storing parameter files. The choice of the general directory of parameters files is carried out by means of the button «…».

A set of parameters files for one classifier pair can be used by the all group of operators on the local network. Parameters files have the following extensions:

IUN - formation of nomenclature sheet (appendix B);

IRC - recoding of objects (appendix C);

IGS - geodetic stations generalization (appendix D);

IHS - square objects hydrography generalization (appendix E);

IST - built-up area generalization (appendix F);

ILG - isolines generalization (appendix G);

ISM - generalization of small objects (appendix H).

Calling the dialogs for setting the parameters of the generalization processes is performed using the button «>>». Description of the settings of individual processes of generalization is contained in sections 3, 5, 7 of this document.

As a name of a parameters file of each separate process it is recommended to use a name of the classifier of a destination map which is set by default. For each type of reform the own set of parameters files is formed:

- at using the classifier of a derivative map with name Topo50t.rsc (for the type of reform «1: 25 000 - 1: 50 000») the files of parameters with name Topo50t are formed (with extensions: IUN, IRC, IGS, IHS, IST, ILG, ISM);

- at using the classifier of a derivative map with name Topo100t.rsc (for the type of reform «1: 50 000 - 1: 100 000») the files of parameters with name Topo100t are formed;

- at using the classifier of a derivative map with name Topo200t.rsc (for the type of reform «1: 100 000 - 1: 200 000») the files of parameters with name Topo200t are formed.

You can save files of parameters with the names inappropriate to a name of the destination classifier.

When you select a new classifier, the names of the parameters files are automatically generated. At the same time, for reliability, the connection of generalization software with files of parameters is disabled, since the entire set of parameters files is relevant only for one pair of classifiers (source and destination).

Files of parameters with the names inappropriate to a name of the destination classifier, can be connected by means of the button «…». At a choice of files in a directory other than the general directory of files of parameters of generalization processes, automatic copying of the chosen file into the general directory of parameters files is carried out.

When you select a new general directory of parameters files, the link of the parameter files with the generalization program is set automatically. If there are no parameters files in the specified directory, it is necessary to make the customizing (by means of the button «>>») or connection (by means of the button «…») of each absent file.

Setting parameters for the formation of the nomenclature sheet and the recoding of objects is performed before execution of the specified tasks. The settings of the remaining tasks are performed after the recoding of objects.
