Files of tables

Print Previous page Top page Next page

Semantics is created as files of tables of DBF format. Files are formed automatically by number of the  processed at converting map layers. In a file of the table there are objects of only one layer. The name of a file will consist of 8 symbols. The first 6 symbols coincide with first 6 symbols of a DXF-file (if in the name of DXF-file there are less than 6 symbols we supplement it with a symbol of underlining). The last 2 symbols are an ordinal number of map layer (for example 01, 11, 34).

Number of records in a file of tables is equal to number of the objects of one layer unloaded into DXF-file.

File of tables contains two obligatory fields:

Id - a serial number of object

Excode - an external code of object

Other fields are formed automatically by number of object characteristics in the classifier. The name of a field coincides with a short name of semantics. By default the short name of semantics is formed as line SEMNNN, where SEM - a line constant, NNN - number equal to a code of semantics. At creation of object the user can independently set a short name of semantics. However, it is necessary to have in view of, that this name should not exceed 10 symbols. If to set a short name of semantics more than 10 symbols and to execute converting into DXF in a mode of creation of semantics there will be an error. The given restriction applies only to the size of a field name and not applies to the size of the data placed into this field.

You can connect file of tables with the received draft (drawing) and to look through semantics of draft objects.

For AutoCAD14 linking of a database with the drawing we shall explain on an example. And DXF - file and DBF - files are created in directory C:\D1\D2\D3. For linking it is necessary to execute  following sequence of actions.

1. Installation of an environment name:

- To start the AutoCAD utility External Database Configuration (asicfg.exe module). As a name of environment it is necessary to set a name of a younger directory (D3 in our example). If the name was set earlier, then it is not necessary to execute installation;

- After starting of the utility in Add mode you must set Environment Name - D3, Environment Description do not set. Choose type of environment in DBMS List as dBase III. At description of environment in Catalog window of Environment window you must set Path as C:\D1\D2 and set Name as D3. In Schema window of Environment window you must set Path as C:\D1\D2\D3 and set the Name as D3D3.

2. Linking of the drawing and a database:

- To start AutoCAD. To create the drawing by import of DXF-file. Enter into Tools/External Database/Administration mode;

- To choose in Database Objects window a name of the environment, set in the previous item (D3 in our example);

- by scrolling Link Path Name you must choose any of the offered tables identifiers of kind IdN, where N - number of the table.

- To press Connect button.

Linking with base is set.

3. Viewing lines of base is carried out in AutoCAD mode (Tools/External Database/Rows).

For AutoCAD2000 linking of database with the drawing is carried out as follows:

In the main menu choose Tools\ dbConnect item.

Set a source of data in the appeared window. For this purpose in a window you must place the  mouse cursor on the text "sources of data" and press the right mouse button. Parameters of data source … menu item will appear, having pressed onto which we shall see window of the same name. In the given window it is necessary to set a name of data source and to press OK. As a name of data source you must necessarily set TABL. In the appeared window Property of connection with data it is necessary to choose the supplier of the data with name Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers. Then press Further button or choose Connection bookmark. In the appeared window it is necessary in the item "1.Data source" to set the radio-button into Use name of data source position and from the offered list to choose dBase files line. Then in the same window in the item "3.Enter initial catalog" set a name of the catalog where there are files of tables. For correctness checking of tables connection it is necessary to press Check connection button. If all have been done correctly the message "Check of connection is executed" will appear. Then press OK button and go to the main menu of AutoCAD2000. In the list of data sources the name of the fixed data source will appear. If the source of data already exists, it is necessary to place the mouse cursor onto it and to click right button. Then in the appeared menu choose Adjust item. Then in the appeared window you must adjust to the catalog in which there are files of tables. After adjustment it is necessary to return to window of data sources and to press Connect menu item.

For viewing the concrete table it is necessary to do double mouse click onto it. Work with objects of the drawing and files of tables is carried out by means of AutoCAD2000 and described in files of  built-in help of AutoCAD2000.

For a detachment of databases from the drawing it is necessary to click again by mouse cursor on Tools\ dbConnect menu item.
