Photoschemes are applied for rapid informing to staffs and troops of the detailed and timely information on the terrain.

They are made by the digital topographic maps, remote sensing data, materials of field geodetic works.

The photoscheme is the photographic terrain image mounted from separate planned (not transformed) aerial photographs. On it the rectangular coordinate grid can be drawn, basic elements of terrain (settlements, road system, hydrography, etc.) are decoded and their characteristics are signed.

They are intended for detailed studying of district in areas of nodes of enemy's defence, sections of rivers, areas (sites) of landing and others.

They are made onto separate terrain areas in arbitrary size, typically no more than 40x50 cm.
